About Us

We are Christopher & Julia Jaeger and became owners of Gooseberry Cabins in May 2018. We have four children, Dugan, Kinze, Quinn, and Brody. Three of them are now adults and working at jobs/college/careers. We have one “little bird” still a teenager and is heading into high school.

Julia’s first visit to Duluth happened in middle school, and Christopher was even younger. We did not know each other at the time, but we were both equally enthralled with this giant body of water and gorgeous rocky landscape that is the North Shore of Minnesota.

With this love for Duluth, it was a natural pick for our honeymoon destination in 1999. Subsequently, we came back up north for our 7th anniversary. It was at that point that we were truly hooked; lined and sinker. Soon we were visiting the North Shore pre-planting and post-harvest every year, with an occasional birthday or anniversary weekend snuck in as well. If any of our friends needed a destination recommendation, we always suggested the Duluth/Two Harbors area.

We knew at some point in life, we would invest in some real estate on the north shore but figured it to be later in life as grandparents. We were looking for an opportunity to work together as a family. We are blessed to be caretakers and owners of this little slice of heaven at Gooseberry Cabins. We are excited to get to know each and every one of you that stay at our family-owned resort. Many of our guests are multi-generational and Gooseberry Cabins has a piece of their hearts and their family memories. We respect the responsibility that we have been given to protect this property for future memories to be made here as well.

OUR HISTORY

We are blessed to follow in the footsteps of Tim & Karen Erickson and Carl & Vera Erickson. Two generations of the Erickson family maintained and grew this resort and nurtured relationships with their guests. Tim and Karen owned the resort for about 20 years and in that time reinvested and rebuilt the garage, as well as Cabins #1, #3, #4, and #5. Carl & Vera purchased the resort from the Danielson family about 40 years prior to Tim & Karen’s ownership, and added the TriCabin and Lakehouse.
